The Story
This song is a promise I made out loud. I use the word "covenant" to reference the two way promise this song embodies.
I live a noisy life. Constant input. Demands from every direction. Phone always buzzing. Attention fractured. It is easy to trade what matters for things that feel productive but leave nothing behind.
The opening lines came from recognizing how often I chase distractions instead of peace. How often I reach for things that promise relief but never deliver it. I burn things down emotionally and then wonder why I feel empty. Sound familiar? Many I encounter can relate to this experience with ourselves.
The mercy in this song is not God withholding anything. It is me resisting what has already been offered and actually feeling like I'm fighting grace. Avoiding stillness that he offers. Staying busy so I do not have to listen because I know what His voice requires and my mind talks me out of that engagement.
The bridge shifts intentionally. The Beatitudes are spoken plainly. No instrumentation, just an acapella chant of worship. Blessed are the ones who kneel. The ones who stay. The ones who love when the world walks away.
This song is about alignment. Putting my life back under the promises Christ has already made. Letting the whisper of the Spirit matter more than the crazy world noise around me (there it is again, saying "noise".... I know). Choosing again to follow with my whole heart.
