Lyrics

Why's it feel like mercy's missin',

Every talk turns into friction

We sing hope on Sunday mornin'

Then forget it by the evenin'

Everybody's drawin' circles,

Decidin' who belongs inside…

Every word becomes a weapon.

Every truth gets fortified.

All this noise is wearin' thin

Breakin' hearts we're meant to mend

Drop the stones, drop the anger

Lay the battle at His feet

Grace is louder than the shouting

Mercy's humblin' you and me.

If we're gonna say His name out loud,

It's gotta mean somethin' now.

Every life He laid down for

Deserves a little mercy more

I remember when it was simple,

Back when friends were just close by…

Before the lines and labels showed up,

Before we learned to pick a side.

Now it's borders, flags, and questions

Who is right and who is wrong

So much shoutin' over nothin'

We can't hear the Shepherd's song

We keep talkin' past the pain

Miss the tears behind the names

Drop the stones!, drop the anger!

Lay the battle at His feet

Grace is louder than the shouting

Mercy's humblin' you and me

If we're gonna say His name out loud

It's gotta mean somethin' now

Every life He laid down for

Deserves a little mercy more…

Pick up the ones barely standin'

Not the stones we wanna throw

Sit beside the hurt and listen

You don't gotta fix it all

Truth don't need a sharpened edge

Grace still does the heavy lift

If His heart is what we're carryin'

It oughta sound like this

Drop the stones, drop the anger

Let His kindness lead the way

If He walked into this moment

What would He have to say

We don't get another lifetime

To build walls He already tore

If the gospel's really good news

It should feel like mercy more

So if you wake up ready to fight

Take a breath, step back a little

Find a face instead of a side

Find a hand you can hold onto

The Story

This song came from exhaustion.

FYI, I loathe politics and popular opinion discussions. Not because the topics aren't important, but the way that I hear others literally brand themselves with their thoughts and human obsessions, disregarding the higher purposes of existence and the laws of God.

Everywhere I look, people are entrenched. Opinions harden. Mercy disappears. Conversations turn into battles. Even places that should feel safe and spiritual start sounding like scorekeeping and side taking.

It wears on me. Honestly, it's exhausting. I can't handle it when family or friends engage in it and divide, building walls in conversation.

I think back to being a kid when friendship and love were simple. No labels. No tribes. You became friends because someone invited you to help look for a spider ring in the bushes. That was enough. My childhood homie, DJ, is a buddy for life off of a simple exchange like that.

This song is a plea to put the stones down. To stop acting like we are each other's judges. To put the fight at Christ's feet and let Him handle what we were never meant to carry.

Everyone He suffered for deserves more mercy than we give them.

The tone is intentional. I'd call it urgent, but not trying to be angry. Loving without being passive. I did not want this to sound like another voice yelling into the noise. It needed energy without aggression.

The message is simple. Find a face instead of a side. Find a hand instead of an argument. Help someone instead of winning something.
